Beetroot Chapati

Ajwain Seeds 1/2 tsp
Beetroot 1 Medium
Oil As needed
Salt To taste
Water As needed
Wheat Flour 1.5 Cups

  1. Cook Beetroot : Wash, peel and cook the beetroot in a pressure cooker with enough water for 2 whistles. Once the pressure leaves remove the beetroot and let it cook.
  2. Puree the Beetroot : Chop the cooked beetroot and blend it in a blender to a smooth puree. 
  3. Make the dough : In a large bowl, add the wheat flour, salt, ajwain seeds and mix well. Then add the earlier prepared beetroot puree and mix. Knead to a dough consistency and add additional water only if required. Once the dough is ready, coat the dough with 1/2 tbsp of oil and allow it to rest for at least 30 minutes. 
  4. Making the Chapati : Divide the dough into lime sized balls. Roll the dough balls using a rolling pin into a circle. Heat a pan and cook the chapati both sides. Enjoy your beetroot chapati hot with a spicy gravy. 

  1. Blend a green chili while making the beetroot puree if you want to spice up the flavor.
