Cabbage Palya

Cabbage3 cups
Coconut (Grated)2 tbsp
Coriander leaves1/2 cup
Curry leaves10
Green Chilies3
Asafoetida1/8 tsp
Cumin Seeds1 tsp
Lemon Juice2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds1/2 tsp
Oil1 tsp
SaltTo Taste
Turmeric Powder1/4 tsp

  1. Prep the vegetables: Chop the cabbage finely. Grate the coconut. 
  2. Make the masala: In a blender, blend the coconut, green chilies, coriander leaves, cumin seeds and asafoetida. Blend without water. 
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds pop, add the curry leaves.
  4. Then add the masala mixture and Saute until the raw smell leaves the masala mixture. 
  5. Add the chopped cabbage to the mixture and mix well. Cover and cook till the cabbage is done. 
  6. Add salt to the mixture and switch off the stove. Add the lemon juice and serve.

  1. There is no need to add water in this recipe. When the cabbage cooks, it leaves out some water.
