Flu Buster - Turmeric Milk

It's that time of the year when you hear Achooo and ahhmm.. ahm... more than any other noise.. Its winter and everyone around is coughing or sneezing or both!! How do you fight back and build immunity?? Here is a simple home remedy that you can prepare easily with ingredients in your kitchen pantry.

Here's how you go about making the flu buster turmeric milk! Heat the milk. Once the milk is lukewarm, add turmeric powder. Turmeric powder has anti-inflammatory properties and is very strong anti-oxidant. These properties helps fight the flu bacteria.

Now, stir in the honey to the milk. Honey has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Honey is also known to have the ability to soothe and calm the body and induce sleep. So that's good.. It will give the body much needed rest.

It's time to add the pepper powder. Pepper powder acts as a decongestant which mean pepper helps break the mucus and phlegm in the respiratory tract. Pepper also acts as a irritant and helps bring that broken pieces of mucus out of the system through cough which helps cleanses your system.

This golden milk with magical pepper dust is ready to gulp down. Mix well and enjoy the goodness of all the ingredients.

You don't have to be down with Flu to drink this.. I love this drink and I like it so much that I tend to make excuses to enjoy it!! After all, Prevention is better than cure!

Ingredients:
1 cup hot milk
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper powder (substitute with freshly crushed peppercorns)
1 tablespoon honey (substitute with white sugar)

Method:
  1. Mix all the ingredients to warm milk.

Notes:
  1. I prefer more pepper in my milk, so I add half teaspoon of turmeric powder to it. So, have fun with the ingredients and adjust it to your taste.
