Wheat Tortilla Chips

This was a recipe that happened by mistake.. How many of us have left the last tortilla / roti we made for dinner lying on the pan after switching off the gas and then come back to notice the tortilla or roti has just gone crispy and become like a large crunchy chip that crumbles when you break it.

We just thought it would be great to have the bread in bite sized shapes and every time we tried breaking or cutting the bread it would just crumble away.. irrespective of how careful and patient we were or the tools we used.. And then we had this absolutely ingenious solution... just cut the bread before toasting it!! Dah... That was simple!!

3 Chapatti / Wheat Tortilla / Roti, cooked
2 tablespoons corn kernels
2 tablespoons peas
1 tablespoon cheese

  1. Make the Tortilla Chips: Cut the wheat tortillas using kitchen scissors into triangles. On a flat pan on low heat or on a sandwich toaster, place these triangles and heat it for around 1 to 2 minutes till they become crisp.
  2. In a plate, place the tortilla chips and toss over the fresh peas and corn kernels along with some shredded cheese. Heat the plate in the microwave for a couple of minutes till the cheese melts and becomes gooey..

  1. We used mozzarella cheese torn and tossed over the chips. We would recommend you use cheddar or mozzarella.
  2. Cheese is optional and you can choose to skip it.

Serving Suggestion: Serve the tortilla chips with creamy guacamole dip. You can check out our guacamole recipe here
